Pool heater questions, answered

Are you a pool company?

No. Pool Heater Repair Pasco is a referral service. We connect you with an independent, licensed local technician, who gives their own estimate, handles any permit and does the work.

My heat pump runs but the water stays cold. What's wrong?

Common causes are low water flow from a dirty filter or a closed valve, a failed sensor, a refrigerant leak, or air too cold for the heat pump to work well. A technician can read the error code and test the system in one visit.

Should I repair or replace my pool heater?

Repairs on newer heaters usually make sense. When a heater is past about 8 to 10 years, needs a compressor or heat exchanger, or keeps breaking, a replacement often costs less over time. Ask for both prices in writing.

What does pool heater repair cost?

Angi's Tampa guide puts heater repair at about $165 to $740. Replacing a heat pump or gas heater costs thousands, depending on size, type and any electrical or gas work.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. The estimate is free and there's no obligation to hire the technician.

Does replacing a pool heater need a permit?

Often, yes. Many Florida building offices require a permit for a new or replacement pool heater mainly to inspect the electrical connection and bonding, and gas heaters add gas line work. Which office handles it depends on whether your parcel is in a city or the unincorporated county.

Heat pump or gas heater: which is better in Pasco?

Heat pumps cost more to buy but much less to run, and they work well most of the year here. Gas or propane heaters heat fast and work on cold nights, so they suit spas and owners who heat only now and then. Some homes use both.

Why does my heat pump stop working on cold mornings?

Air-source heat pumps lose efficiency as the air cools, and many shut down or defrost below roughly 45 to 50 degrees. That's normal. A heat pump that won't run on a mild day is a different story.

Can lightning damage a pool heater?

Yes. Lightning and power surges often damage control boards, transformers and sensors. Some homeowners policies cover lightning damage, so take photos and keep the technician's written diagnosis.

What's the difference between a pool heater repair and a pool service visit?

Weekly pool service covers chemicals and cleaning. Heater repair is electrical, refrigerant or gas work, which takes a technician licensed for that kind of work.

Do you cover spa and hot tub heaters?

Yes. Attached spa heaters and stand-alone hot tub heaters are part of the service.

Are your images real projects?

No. They're illustrations made for this site, not photos of completed projects.
