Getting to know Holiday
Holiday is an unincorporated community in the far southwest corner of Pasco County, with 24,939 residents in the 2020 census. Its name dates to the early 1960s and is credited to William W. Boyd of First Federal of Tarpon Springs, back when the area was mostly scrub and fishing camps.
Its south edge is the Pinellas County line at Tarpon Springs, and its west edge is the Gulf, with Anclote River Park and Key Vista Park on the water.
Pools and heaters in Holiday
Most of Holiday was built out from the 1960s through the 1980s, so many pools here are on their second or third heater. Roof-mounted solar collectors from the 1970s and 1980s still turn up, sometimes still working, sometimes just leaking. Heat pumps that replaced older gas heaters are now reaching their own end of life.
Homes west of US 19 get more salt air off the Gulf and the Anclote, and heat pump coils there tend to show it.

Holiday sits right against Tarpon Springs. Homes south of the line are in Pinellas County, where a different building office handles permits. Check the parcel before the contractor files.
Permits for a Holiday pool heater
Holiday is unincorporated, so permitted heater work goes through Pasco County Building Construction Services.
Permits for a heater replacement go through Pasco County Building Construction Services, 8661 Citizens Drive, Suite 100, New Port Richey, FL 34654, (727) 847-8126.
Swapping a sensor, board or fan is usually service work. A new or replacement heater generally needs a permit, mainly so an inspector can check the electrical connection and the pool bonding; the City of Marco Island explains it the same way. Gas heaters add gas line work.

Free EstimateWhat heater work costs in Holiday
No two pools price the same, so treat these as reference points. Replacing a heat pump that's on an existing circuit is usually the simpler job here. Removing an old solar system or dealing with a corroded pad adds to the price.
Reference figures, not quotes. Angi, pool repair costs in Tampa: heater repair about $165–$740. HomeAdvisor, pool heater repair cost: typical $164–$780. Swimply, pool heater costs 2026: gas heaters about $1,500–$6,000 installed, heat pumps about $2,000–$8,000. Checked October 2026.
Holiday pool heater questions
Who issues permits for a Holiday address?
Pasco County Building Construction Services, since Holiday is unincorporated. Addresses across the Tarpon Springs line are in Pinellas.
Should I keep my old solar heating?
If it still works and doesn't leak, it can cut heat pump run time. If it leaks or the roof needs replacing, it may be time to remove it.
Why does my heat pump rust so fast?
Salt air near the Gulf and the Anclote corrodes coil fins and screws. Coastal models and regular rinsing help.
